Tonight I stepped out of my building and it was one of those beautiful magical moments when the light of the day was receding and the city was transforming for nightfall. Peace, y’all.

It’s no secret to anyone that this year has been a tough one economically. Most of us are feeling the “downturn” and having to make changes to compensate. This spring John and I decided to go down to one car and I morphed into a public transit geek.
After experimenting with my Eagle Rock to Downtown commute over various route combinations I settled on bike, bus, train. (Or more specifically: bike/bus/bike/train/train - train/train/bike.)
I ride my bike to the bus stop, take my bike on the bus to Old Town, ride over to the Gold Line station, park in a bike locker, train to Union Station, switch to the Red Line and emerge across the street from my office at Pershing Square.
In reverse, the only difference is that intsead of taking the bus, I ride my bike the 4.5 miles home from Pasadena.
BRILLIANT. Here’s pics from today’s commute.
