If you answered “C.- A staged allegory for the fall of the United States,” you are correct.
First “she”, the United States, blindly proclaims her patriotism.
The rhetoric confuses her, she loses her way, and she consults her “Constitution”. Realizing she was way off, and what she has been spouting is nothing close to the wording of the Bill of Rights, she tries to correct it. But it is too late. Habeus Corpus has been suspended, private phone lines and emails have been tapped, protestors have been silenced and rounded up into “Free Speech Zones”, States’ rights to legalization of marijuana and self-governance are overruled. So she falls miserably and publicly. Canada and the world tries lend a hand, but the damage is done.
And I am not sure of the metaphor, but I am guessing her ass is pretty sore.
